Our Mission
The AHR CR Foundation is a charitable project of the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants. Our main goal is to help children from children’s homes gain education, work experience, and a stronger foundation for entering independent life.
Why we do
At the heart of our foundation is the Start into Life project, which helps young people from children’s homes prepare for adulthood, obtain an education, and find employment in the hospitality and gastronomy sector.
Children growing up in children’s homes often face difficulties adapting to life outside once they leave these institutions. The project supports their adaptability and transition to life beyond the home by giving them the opportunity to gain education and practical experience during their studies. This increases their chances of succeeding professionally in their chosen field.
Further assistance includes helping to arrange internships or offering employment contracts after successful graduation. All of this is made possible through cooperation with both member and non-member hotels associated with the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants.
Why we do it
We believe that the beginning of adulthood deserves more than just uncertainty. Children from children’s homes face many obstacles most of us cannot even imagine. Our goal is to make their journey easier – with concrete help, opportunities, and education that give them a better chance of employment and confidence in their own abilities.
Start into Life – from a children’s home to a career in hospitality
The project supports young people from children’s homes who want to study gastronomy and hospitality. Thanks to cooperation with member schools of the Czech Association of Hotels and Restaurants, they receive quality education and, after graduation, also the opportunity for employment in partner hotels and restaurants. We help children take their first steps into independent life with confidence and perspective.

Our children, their homes
We help children from children’s homes across the Czech Republic navigate their path to education, hands-on training, and their first job in the field of hospitality and gastronomy.
We support them by covering tuition fees and contributing to other study-related expenses – such as study materials, work clothing, transportation, or participation in courses and competitions. These expenses are paid directly to the children’s home for a specific child enrolled in the foundation program.
We also help improve conditions in children’s homes by supporting selected activities.

Real names behind the help
Behind every child we help, there is someone who believes it makes sense to give a chance.
Thanks go to the hotels and guesthouses that have decided to support the activities of the AHR CR Foundation and contribute to helping children from children’s homes. Many of them also involve their guests by collecting a voluntary contribution of 1 Euro per stay, which goes directly to the foundation fund.
Support also comes from individuals who have chosen to donate either once or regularly. Every contribution, whether small or large, helps and makes a difference.

Children involved in the AHR CR Foundation program study fields related to hospitality and gastronomy at vocational and secondary technical schools across the Czech Republic.
Member schools of AHR CR enable children from children’s homes to focus on areas that interest them and help integrate them into the school community.
We are especially proud of the stories of students who, with our support, have completed the entire educational journey — from secondary school all the way to university. This is clear evidence that long-term support truly makes a difference.

How to get involved
Anyone can help change a child’s story. See how individuals, hotels, schools, and children’s homes can get involved.
Hotels
Without the support of hoteliers, the Start into Life program would be difficult to implement. Hotels and guesthouses play a key role in the entire system – not only as donors, but also as employers who give children their first job opportunities.
The AHR CR Foundation concludes an agreement with hotels to participate in the program. As part of this cooperation, hotels collect a voluntary contribution of 1 Euro per stay from their guests, which goes directly to the foundation fund. The method of participation depends on each hotel – some hotels automatically add the contribution to the guest’s bill, while others inform guests personally during their stay, for example at check-in or check-out.
Guest participation is always voluntary and transparent – each hotel receives clear informational materials from the Foundation that explain to guests the purpose of the contribution and how it is specifically used. Hotels are regularly informed about the Foundation’s financial management and the use of the funds.
If a hotel decides to support the Foundation with a one-time financial donation, this form of help is also very welcome. Employees can contribute as well – for example, through a benefit activity. Every form of support is meaningful – whether it is one-time, recurring, from a company, an individual, or an entire team.
Helping others should be a natural part of our society. I am proud to have been there at the birth of the Foundation that supports children from children’s homes as they take their first steps toward independent life. Together with others who have selflessly helped for many years, we strive to be both support and guide for those who need it most.
